Kusam Klimb - blog

Meet Lisa

My first experience of the Kusam Klimb was in 2010. My hubbie and I, and our 3 dogs (excess baggage) had just landed in Canada as immigrants for the UK.

We found out about the Klimb by 'googling' Sayward - our new home.

We couldn't resist this opportunity, we had climbed all the high mountains in the UK - Ben Nevis, Snowden & the Peaks, but nothing as high as Mt H'Kusam. It just had to be done!

It was an awesome experience, and an honour when I was asked to join the commttee. I try to keep on top of the social media and do the 'bulk' e-mails. On Klimb day I am based at the Start/Finish.

Meet Bill

The Kusam Klimb is set over Bill's Trail. For more information and a trail guide see under the 'About' tab on the web site home page.

Bill says God has a hand in how the Klimb came about. When he and his Irish Setter dog, 'Ribs' were looking for a house in Sayward Ribs jumped out of the pickup on the corner of Sabre Road barking with great excitement as if to say, 'Yeah! Bill also built an access trail for Mt H'Kusam around the other side.  He had it on the back of his mindthat

Meet Kim…

Like Linda, Kim has been involved since before the event existed! Kim, Linda and their friends have enjoyed doing many endurance events such as, Coast to Coast Foot Roast, Great Lake Walk, Goddess Run.

Kim feels very fortunate to live here and have the opportunity to spend lots of time hiking up and down Springer Peak and Mount H'Kusam. Doing all that hiking makes Kim the perfect person to be our event sweeper. As the sweeper Kim does the Klimb every year and achievement not many have accomplished.
Her favourite part of the trail is the rock above the lake, although she realizes, "it's far fro

Meet Linda

Linda has been with the Klimb since before it was actually in existance!

Way back when, Linda, fellow Kommittee member Kim, and friend Janet were doing the Coast to Coast Foot Roast and they got talking about how neat it would be to do a similar event in the Sayward Valley.

At a Tourism meeting in Sayward Linda, Kim & Janet spoke with Bill about the idea and how his trail might be the perfect route for an endurance event. A further meeting was planned. John & Terri, with their knowledge of the Death Race, and several others attended this meeting and the Kusam Klimb was born.

Linda takes the le
